GPA Europe - Aungier Awards

Aungier Award

The  European Chapter of the Gas Processors Association was formed to promote the exchange of ideas and information on gas processing. GPA Europe (GPAE) members come from the operating, contracting and supplier areas of the gas industry.

GPA Europe makes an Annual Award to the Author of what is judged to be the Best Paper on a Novel Topic associated with Gas Processing, published or presented by a student or young professional person during the year.

This award is made in memory and recognition of Bob Aungier who was chairman of the Gas Processors Suppliers Association (GPSA) for eight years and who played a major role in establishing the GPA activities in Europe.  He and his wife were killed in a tragic motor accident in 1991, and in his memory the Aungier Award was created.  The value of the Award is £1,000 and will be presented at one of the GPAE conferences.

The purpose of the award is to foster the contribution of young aspiring engineers to the industry.  Candidates are encouraged to prepare and present a paper on a topic allied to Gas Processing.  The subject and content of the paper should demonstrate a degree of innovation and novelty, so that it can be seen as making a valuable contribution to the development of the Industry.

GPA Europe is actively seeking contributions from both Universities and Industries based in Europe.  The paper can be on any aspect allied to the gas industry, from wells through to consumers; this can include:

  • Gas conditioning and drying
  • Gas treatment
  • NGL & LPG extraction
  • Gas transmission
  • Natural Gas Liquefaction
  • LNG transport and regasification
  • HSE issues
  • Equipment design, development and operation
  • Technical data and material properties
