Maximising NGL Production

Nauman Islam, Compressor Controls Corporation, Houston, Texas, USA
The use of cryogenic expanders in gas processing plants dates back to the 1960's. With higher availability of the turboexpanders and advanced control strategies developed over the past several years, end-users have realized the benefits. Advanced turboexpander control systems provide users maximum protection for both the expander and recompressor. Optimimising loadsharing strategies for parallel turboexpanders; advanced control functions (brake control for overspeed prevention and JT valve prepositioning) maximize condensate production. Integration with other compressors increases availability and flexibility.
