TEG Dehydration – Trays and Transfer Units: A Comparison of Contactor Design Methods

Gas dehydration with tri-ethylene glycol (TEG) has been very successfully used in the gas industry for many decades.
This paper evaluates the commonly used methods to determine the amount of Transfer Units (TU) or Theoretical Plates (TP) required to achieve the desired level of dehydration of the product gas.
