Offshore Gas/Condensate fields are often developed as Subsea tiebacks over increasingly longer distances and in deeper waters.  A good example is the Ormen Lange project, offshore Norway which is a 120km tieback in 850m of water. This type of project presents significant flow assurance challenges and a detailed understanding of the dynamic multiphase flow issues at all stages of the project is crucial to operational success.

The industry standard tool for the analysis of dynamic multiphase flow in wells, flowlines and reception facilities is OLGA® which is owned and developed by SPT Group.

This presentation initially focuses on the key dynamic multiphase production challenges associated with this type of development and then shows how OLGA® is utilised throughout the design process from Concept to Detailed Design.

The deployment of OLGA® models built during engineering into an online environment for multiphase production monitoring, look-ahead simulation and planning is also presented
