November 2011 Technical Meeting AGM & Knowledge Sessions

The 2011 AGM, Technical Meeting and Knowledge Session, held at the Marriott Marble Arch in London on November 24, 2011,  was one of the most successful such meetings ever held with 100 delegates registered.

The Technical Meeting and Knowledge Sessions majored on the theme of Compact Gas Processing and the meeting commenced in the morning with two Knowledge Sessions - one on the use of Compact Heat Exchangers in natural gas processing and one on the overall subject of the selection of compressors for LNG production service.

After a fine lunch, the delegates re-assembled for the Annual General Meeting of the GPA Europe where, in addition to the usual subjects, two major decisions were taken, namely:

To reflect the issue of rising input costs by raising the fees for Corporate Membership by 5% for all classes except Academic Membership. This is the first time fees have been changed for three years. Membership fees for Individual and Retired members were kept at their current level, and

To authorise the incorporation of the GPA Europe as a Company Limited by Guarantee, to provide members with considerably enhanced protection in the event of the Association attracted major liabilities beyond what can be handled in contracts.

Both these issues were approved by the delegates and subject to final development of detail, GPA Europe Ltd. will formed by the end of first quarter 2012. Further detail will be made available to members by direct correspondence and on the website over the coming weeks.

The afternoon session consisted of four very interesting papers on the Proteus LNG process for small volume LNG production, the use of membrane systems in a Compact Gas-to-Liquids process, the design of separators for compact intensified design and finally the novel use of divided wall column to minimse space and weight by combing sweetening and dehydration in one column.

All the papers preseented are available for download on the GPA Europe website - just follow this link.
