Liquid Particle Size Distribution

Prediction of performance of Separators and Gas Scrubbers is difficult with the traditional design methods - especially if inlet liquid loadings are high. BP Engineering has developed a novel Separator Design Program that can quantify the performance of both conventional and proprietary separation units.

This technique, based on Particle Size Distribution, has been in use for over two years now and has been verified by checking against existing operating units.

The most recent work has concentrated on the impact of inlet devices and upstream bends on the separation efficiency. The latest results from the research and development work carried out by BP Research (BPR), Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) and BP Engineering (BPE) is reported. This will be the first release of this information - which is used within BP and by other Operators.
